Colleen and Dakota (black wolf)

National Wildlife Day, was created by animal behaviorist  and author Colleen Paige for September 4th, in memory of Steve Irwin's last day on earth.

The holiday serves to bring awareness to the number of endangered animals globally that need to be preserved and rescued from their demise each year, but also to acknowledge U.S. zoos and legitimate animal sanctuaries for everything they do to help preserve this planet's animals and educate the public about conservation - especially children....our animal's future caretakers and conservationist's.

National Wildlife Day will also encourage citizens to stand up and fight for animals that need a voice, visit their local zoo more often - but especially on National Wildlife Day and donate what they can, to offer their show of support to worthy organizations that make a difference in the lives of our beloved animal friends.

Look up your local zoo or animal sanctuary online, adopt an animal, donate some money or volunteer to help in any way you can. The animals need you!!
